The female condom does not have the deterrent power to prevent venereal disease, said obstetrician from Surabaya International Hospital, Dr. Hendra Surya, SpOG.

"If a condom on a man able to cover the entire skin of the penis, but the female condom or cervical cap is different because it is only attached to the uterine wall," he said in Surabaya.

According to him, female condoms are not designed to ward off the virus that causes venereal disease because of the installation does not cover all the vital organs, but attached to the end of the cervix.

"Cervical cap was able to thwart the conception 80 to 90 percent, but for the risk of other viruses, like HIV / AIDS, are also still huge," he said.

Therefore, since released around the year 2008 until now, the cervical cap has only a few enthusiasts.

"In addition to its installation is not practical, the risk of viral entry and progression of the disease is also a consideration," he said.

For women who are married, he said, generally prefer to use contraception to prevent pregnancy spiral than female condoms as a contraceptive.

"Even so, the use of female condoms that vary depending on the receptivity of the female body," he said.
