Experts in construction and building layout of Diponegoro University Semarang Tudjono Sri Dr said, the building that is flexible to minimize damage caused by earthquakes.

"Material that is flexible buildings can absorb energy, both energy intake and stress, and some building materials that have elastic properties are iron and wood," said Sri Tudjono in Semarang, Monday (12/10).

He says, steel is used as a column that serves as a frame to tie the construction of buildings and can absorb the energy that emerged, including an earthquake tremor. However, he said, many buildings that do not use iron.

"Usually, buildings rely solely on brick walls and cement are not equipped with iron columns, and brick walls are not flexible, but it is brittle and easily broken," he said.
